just loaded office live on this new computer, all my workspaces and files are there but they will not open when I select the "edit" button. I do not have this problem on my laptop.

There are certain reasons for being unable to edit the documents of your Microsoft Office Live Workspace account. For your reference, I am providing you with few possible reasons:

Possibility 1:  When you have not installed supported version of Microsoft Office on your computer.

Please note that to edit the documents from your Microsoft Office Live Workspace account, you need to have supported Microsoft Office version installed on your computer. Currently we support Microsoft Office 2003 and later versions. If you have not installed the supported Microsoft Office version, the Edit option will not available in your account.

Possibility 2: When Microsoft Office Live Update 1.4 is not installed on your computer.

In order to get proper functionality of editing your documents/files saved to your Microsoft Office Live Workspace account, you need to install Microsoft Office Live Update 1.4 on your computer. Once you installed this software on your system, you will get the Edit option to directly access your documents saved in your Microsoft Office Live Workspace account which will open in their original Microsoft Office application.
